Southside ReLeaf invites you to join us as we support the "Day of Service: Moving Richmond Forward Together" initiative of incumbent Mayor of Richmond, Danny Avula! In honor of this day of service, Southside ReLeaf is hosting two different volunteer opportunities, one at the new park at Ernest Road and one at Reedy Creek Wetland.
Invasive Plant Removal at Ernest Road—We’re seeking volunteers to rake English Ivy vines to help us clear out areas so they can be reseeded and replanted with natives.
Community Clean-up at Reedy Creek Wetland—We’re seeking volunteers to clean trash and other debris from the wetland area to improve ecological health and beautify the space.
When is the Day of Service?
Saturday, January 11, 2025 from 10 am - 2 pm
Please note that the Reedy Creek Wetland project may wrap up before 2 pm, if all debris is removed in less time.
Where are the workdays?
For the Invasive Plant Removal project at the new park, plug 4701 Ernest Road into your GPS. Parking will be in a residential neighborhood on the street. If you arrive late, look for a grassy driveway with a “no parking” sign, and follow that path until you find the group.
For the Reedy Creek Wetlands Clean-up, navigate to 6102 Lamar Drive. Park along the curb or on Beaufont Court.
When parking, please do not block driveways or mailboxes.
What should I bring?
Please wear long pants and closed toe shoes(boots recommended). Please bring a refillable water bottle and a snack if you want one. Gloves will be provided, but feel free to bring your own pair. Dress for the weather.
Do I need to sign up?
Yes! Please sign up for one of our volunteer opportunities on January 11 through CFengage. If you have any questions about these workdays, please email Lisa at lisa@southsidereleaf.org.
